What to see in Gran Canaria in 7 days: a complete island itinerary
Gran Canaria is known as a miniature continent, and a single week is enough to prove it. Within a few kilometres the island shifts from dunes to pine forests, from urban beaches to deep ravines, and from mountain villages to historic seafront quarters. Seven days are enough to explore it at an easy pace, combining rest, culture, nature and good food.
Day 1: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
The capital deserves at least a full day. The Vegueta quarter takes you back to the city's historic origins, with cobbled streets, colonial architecture and squares full of life. Afterwards, Las Canteras beach offers one of the best urban experiences in the Canary Islands: swimming, strolling along the promenade and rounding off the day with dinner facing the Atlantic.

Day 2: Maspalomas and the south
The second day can be devoted to Maspalomas, one of the island's great symbols. Its dunes form a protected, ever-changing landscape, particularly beautiful at sunrise or sunset. The day continues well in Meloneras, Playa del Inglés or one of the quieter beaches in the south.
Day 3: Puerto de Mogán and the south-west coast
Puerto de Mogán blends a marina, white houses, bougainvillea and a thoroughly photogenic atmosphere. It's ideal for a more relaxed day, with a stroll, a meal by the sea and a swim on the south-west coast. The road winding between ravines and cliffs adds to the appeal of the journey.
Day 4: Roque Nublo and the summit
The interior of Gran Canaria completely changes the image of the island. The route towards Roque Nublo leads through mountain scenery, pine forests and viewpoints; on clear days, the views reach as far as Mount Teide. It's worth booking in advance if access requires it, and wearing comfortable footwear.
Day 5: inland villages
Tejeda, Artenara and Teror show a more traditional Gran Canaria. Houses with balconies, traditional sweets, markets and views over the ravines are all part of a perfect day for understanding life inland.
Day 6: the best beaches
Amadores, Anfi, Las Canteras or Maspalomas can easily fill a day devoted to the sea. The choice depends on what you're after: facilities nearby, calm waters, atmosphere or scenery.
Day 7: a free day
It's worth leaving the last day open: returning to a favourite beach, visiting a viewpoint you missed, or heading back to Las Palmas. Gran Canaria has that quality — it always leaves something for the next visit.
